Student of the Month
Mr. Pedersen had this to say:
“I have chosen Jacob Clayton as my student of the month. Jacob exemplifies an Academy student in
many ways. Foremost, he is one of the most respectful and considerate students I have ever taught.
His academic accomplishments are undeniable, but his character and personality are the main reasons I want to acknowledge this incredibly deserving student.”
Ms. Bailey had this to say:
“I am nominating Nigel Lane for November Academy Student of the Month. Nigel is an outstanding student who comes to class prepared to discuss all things government and politics. Nigel adds value to the class every day, and that makes teaching government fun. Nigel is one of a kind and will do great things!”
Ms. Pedersen had this to say:
“I am nominating Nate Driver for the October Academy Student of the Month. Over the course of four years, Nate has followed his interests in research and promoting STEM throughout the county. He has been providing age-appropriate activities at STEM Nights at both the elementary and middle schools. He has become such an asset in bird banding and so dependable when it comes to work in the STEM garden. A word he lives by is GRIT, which I remember from his application to the Academy. I can say, over four years he has given even better meaning and example to the word. I am very proud of him.”
Ms. Swena had this to say:
“Ella is my Student of the Month for September. Ella is a hard worker who is driven by not only the course content, but also how it affects her real life/world situations. She goes the extra mile in exploring the content and then discusses it with her peers. I also see her encouraging and connecting with her peers in such a way that she is rooting for their success in understanding. She asks amazing questions, and truthfully enjoys the learning process.”
Mr. Fink had this to say:
“My student of the month for August is Mioka Mokontou. Mioka has a wonderful, warm personality that is welcoming and a joy among his peers. He has grown as a student and has found success since last year. He has worked very hard and continues to strive to be better, becoming a main contributor and leader in classroom discussion. I applaud his dedication to improving himself and his learning, not giving up when he is faced with new challenges.”
