THE ACADEMY OF SCIENCE, RESEARCH, AND MEDICINE
Established in 2012, the Academy of Science, Research, & Medicine became the first and only high school in the Paulding County School District to achieve STEM Certification from the Georgia Department of Education. The Academy was originally the 11th STEM Certified Program in the State and recertified in the 2022-2023 school year. We currently serve approximately 226 students who enter through 9 middle schools within the Paulding County School District and other top private middle schools within the area. This program is ideal for students interested in career fields involving any aspect of science, medicine, mathematics, and research. Our partnerships include local employers and agencies such as the GA DNR, WellStar Hospital, KSU, UGS, Emory, etc. Our graduates have been accepted into prestigious universities such as Princeton, Yale, MIT, Emory, Vanderbilt, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, Cal Tech, Notre Dame, Duke, Georgia Tech, and UGA. These graduate also range from aspiring surgeons to biomedical engineers, published researchers, conservation biologists, nuclear physicists, and pediatricians. With state and nationally recognized staff and program, your education from the Academy will make you a top competitor with the career options being truly limitless!
Academy Pathways
Biotechnology
In the Biotechnology pathway, students are exposed to a rigorous curriculum emphasizing biotech research and labbased skills. Through local partnerships, students conduct cutting-edge research with topics ranging from biofuels and nanotechnology. The Atlanta area is rapidly becoming the next major biotech hub. The aim of the Biotechnology pathway is to prepare students with the skills needed to enter this lucrative industry.
Allied Health and Medicine
In the Allied Health & Medicine pathway, students have the opportunity to develop knowledge in multiple healthcare fields, including Medical Lab Services, Psychiatry Services, Veterinary Tech, and Public Health and Epidemiology. The standards in this pathway are adjusted to meet student interests and to provide classes with a unique learning experience including a wide variety of guest speakers, onsite clinicals, and simulated classroom experiences. The aim of the Allied Health & Medicine pathway is to introduce students to the many disciplines available in the field of medicine.
