THE ACADEMY OF SCIENCE, RESEARCH, AND MEDICINE
Established in 2012, the Academy of Science, Research, & Medicine became the first and only high school in the Paulding County School District to achieve STEM Certification from the Georgia Department of Education. The Academy was originally the 11th STEM Certified Program in the State and recertified in the 2022-2023 school year. We currently serve approximately 226 students who enter through 9 middle schools within the Paulding County School District and other top private middle schools within the area. This program is ideal for students interested in career fields involving any aspect of science, medicine, mathematics, and research. Our partnerships include local employers and agencies such as the GA DNR, WellStar Hospital, KSU, UGS, Emory, etc. Our graduates have been accepted into prestigious universities such as Princeton, Yale, MIT, Emory, Vanderbilt, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, Cal Tech, Notre Dame, Duke, Georgia Tech, and UGA. These graduate also range from aspiring surgeons to biomedical engineers, published researchers, conservation biologists, nuclear physicists, and pediatricians. Cobb County STEM Innovation Tour
The Academy not only serves as a model STEM school for the Paulding County School District, but also helps to spread STEM education for both start-up and well established STEM certified schools for the State of Georgia. The Academy serves as a rigorous and cutting edge environment in the areas of medicine and biotechnology for not only students, but also fosters an inclusive learning environment for teachers and STEM Leaders who want to learn more instructional strategies, curriculum development, STEM culture, rigor, and hands-on application skills.

Students in Mrs. Pedersen's Biology class and Ms. Tucker's Geometry class work together on a PBL dealing with topics in evolution, genetics, probability, and statistics. Students were able to taste chocolate and PTC paper to collect the class data and determine if our class population genetic make-up is statistically representative of the average number of tasters and non-tasters.

Shark Dissection PBL with Dallas Elementary
The Academy partners with many elementary schools within the Paulding County School District to help teach and educate younger students in the areas of biology, biotechnology, research, and medicine. In the pictures below, elementary students work along side Academy students to learn about shark anatomy.
Magnet Mania:
Academy Preview Night for Potential Candidates and their Families
Each year, the Academy has 'Magnet Mania Night' on two separate days that all perspective candidates and their families can attend. During these sessions, potential Academy student and parents can learn about the Academy, see the Academy facilities and classrooms, see some of the awesome hands-on learning that they will be doing, meet Academy teachers and students, and ask questions.
